A great day was had at Sons of Norway Leif Erikson Lodge’s recreational area at Norway Park at Lake McMurray, Skagit County! It was June 20, 2015. The sun beamed down—it was truly the kind of day one would want for the beginning of summer. Trailers and tents lined the entrance to the grounds. Many members arrived to celebrate the day.

The Alletiders Kafe was open. Special activities were held outside: the cake walk and kids’ field games like the three-legged race, tossing of the water balloons, and tug-of-war. Inside, members tried their luck at bingo. All day, adults and kids could guess how many jelly beans were in the jar at the kafe or paint themselves to get a new look. Others were swimming or playing with their water toys by the pier on Lake McMurray.

By 8:30 p.m., Jammin’ Jeff arrived, and soon the music began. In minutes, the pavilion was full. The Big Raffle took place, then the music continued. All enjoyed dancing, especially the Chicken Dance.

In no time, it was 10 p.m. and time to light the St. Hans bonfire. All hurried out to where twigs and branches had been placed. Once again, the fire was lit and all enjoyed the light as they stood around the bonfire. A special moment for St. Hans Midsummer at Norway Park!
