Nationwide bank strike called off

The flow of cash at Norwegian banks continued unimpeded after a wage agreement was reached with bank employees early Tuesday, June 7.
A nationwide strike by more than 15,500 bank employees was avoided after a new wage agreement was reached in the early hours of Tuesday, following arbitration that ran into overtime.
The agreement means that all bank employees will get a general increment of at least NOK 5,400, and a maximum of NOK 10,500, depending on their salary scale.
All day Monday there were long lines outside many cashpoints across the nation, with people securing a cash in case of a strike.
Norwegians withdrew a total of NOK 1.15 billion in cash on Monday, the highest in one day ever, according to Verdens Gang.
