An increasing number of Norwegians travel by train when they go on vacation. In the coming year, 80,000 Norwegian vacationers are planning to go by train when they travel abroad, twice as many as last year.

This is shown by a survey carried out by YouGov for one of Norway’s leading holiday travel agencies, Star Tour.

The result is not surprising to Star Tour’s information director Lena Petersson: “The figures show that the positive trend is continuing. An increasing number of Norwegians will use the train in the future,” she says.

Wenche Berger, head of Norwegian Railways InterRail section agrees. She says the number of Norwegians travelling by InterRail has increased by 125 per cent over the last two years.
