More are skeptical of oil drilling in the north
One in four respondents to a new study is more skeptical of oil drilling in Lofoten for oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico
In a study on oil drilling off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja: 31.6 percent of respondents nationwide answered that they are positive to oil production in these areas while 23.3 percent are negative and 36 percent of respondents in doubt.
Among those who live in the Lofoten and Vesterålen, 32.7 percent responded that they are positive to oil production, 33.7 percent are negative and 28.7 percent of respondents are in doubt about what is right with the recovery in the region.
The survey was conducted by Response Analysis of WWF-Norway oil accident in Mexico.
Asked whether the accident contributed to changing views on oil exploration off the Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja, 23.1 percent of those who answered have been swayed by accident, that they have become more negative to oil production in the area. Seven out of ten has not changed their opinion on the issue.
