Malaysian students awarded for climate friendly solutions

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon and her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway today presented the awards to the winning teams of the Deep Green Challenge for Change competition in Malaysia.

Digi Deep Green Challenge for Change winners Team Regen receives the first prize award  from HRH Crown Prince Haakon and HRH Princess Mette-Marit.  Team Regen was also congratulated by Sigve Brekke, EVP in Telenor Group  and Head of Asian operations, and Johan Dennelind, CEO of DiGi.

The Deep Green Challenge for Change competition is organised by the Malaysian mobile operator DiGi, a part of the Telenor Group. The aim is to inspire young Malaysian students to discover new, meaningful and innovative renewable energy solutions. Participants from eight Malaysian Universities submitted their contributions to the competition.

“We are grateful and honored that Their Royal Highnesses presented the awards to the winning teams. As a global mobile operator it is important for the Telenor Group to identify viable solutions to the climate challenge. Addressing global warming is an integrated part of our business strategy,” said Sigve Brekke, Executive Vice President of Telenor Group and Head of Telenor’s Asian Operations. “It is rewarding to experience the high quality of the projects presented by young inspired Malaysians in this competition. As the new low-carbon society is starting to emerge, the knowledge these students have acquired will be a valuable contribution to the growth of the Malaysian green industry.”

The winning teams were awarded approximately USD 20,000 in prizes and will have the opportunity to intern with DiGi.
