A native of Tromsø in northern of Norway, Lisa Stokke is a stage personality well known to Norwegian audiences. With numerous stage and television appearances behind her, she is perhaps best known as the speaking and singing voice of Elsa in the Norwegian-dubbed version of Disney’s Frozen, Frost. Her Norwegian rendition of “Let it Go,” “La Den Gå,” had a quick climb to the top on the Norwegian charts, and in Frozen II, Frost II, she sang the Norwegian rendition of “Into the Unknown,” “I ukjent land,” another big hit in her home country.

During the televised 92nd Academy Awards ceremony in 2020, watched by 23.6 million viewers, she performed the song “Into the Unknown” together with other international voice-over artists.

Indeed, Lisa’ fame goes for beyond the borders of Norway. After studying at LIPA, Paul McCartney’s school in Liverpool in the United Kingdom (she was in the first class ever to graduate there in 1998), she was cast in the leading role as Sophie in the West End production of the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! She remained as a part of the cast for a year, appearing in about 400 performances. Her career hasn’t stopped since, and she has been seen and heard in West End productions of Guys and Dolls, Chess, and Hard Times. She has performed at Buckingham Palace and at Party in the Park in London. She also appeared in the U.K. television hit series Jonathan Creek and Doctor Who.

And now Lisa is conquering the New World with a Christmas tour that will include performances at the annual lighting of the Norwegian Christmas tree at Union Station in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 7, and a holiday concert, “An Evening with Lisa Stokke,” at Norway House in Minneapolis the following evening. Billed as a “dazzling musical adventure for the holidays, her performance there will include the songs from Frost and Mamma Mia! that she made so famous.

With an American mother from Arkansas, Lisa is no stranger to U.S. shores, and she has previously explored opportunities on this side of that Atlantic. In 2010, she appeared in her own documentary series, Lisa Goes to Hollywood, broadcast on NRK. Its episodes portray her search for a role in Tinseltown, the glitzy but fiercely competitive capital of the U.S. entertainment industry.

And now, Lisa’s American dream is coming true. Recently, she signed on with Erik Steigen at Onward Talent Management in Los Angeles. Steigen, who also heads up the Los Angeles chapter of NorCham USA, has also helped violinist and pop star Alexander Rybak launch his U.S. career. “We are thrilled to be managing Lisa Stokke’s career in the United States and Canada,” said Steigen.
