Last farewell to a brave soldier
On April 29 the funeral of fallen Norwegian intelligence officer, Trond Petter Kolset (30) from Steinkjer took place at Ullern Church in Oslo.
At the funeral General Major Torgeir Hagen, at the Norwegian Intelligence Service, said Kolset will be remembered as an ambitious and professional soldier. He said Kolset spread joy around him and that he was an motivator for his colleagues. He was proud to work for the Norwegian Defense, Hagen said.
The Major and Minister Sverre Stai told the packed church that Kolset and his common-law spouse had planned to get married. Stai said Trond Petter’s dream was also to serve as a fighter pilot.
Kolset was killed in northern Afghanistan on April 17 when a suicide bomber attacked a convoy of NATO-led Norwegian forces. This is the first time a Norwegian intelligence officer has lost his life while on a peacekeeping mission.
