Ole Einar Bjørndalen triumphed again before home fans when he won the men’s 15-kilometre biathlon mass start in Trondheim, the 89th World Cup win of his career.

Tora Berger then completed a double triumph for the Norwegians by winning the women’s 12.5-km mass start.

Bjørndalen (35), who won the pursuit on Saturday, made no mistakes on the shooting range on his way to victory in 41 minutes 12.9 seconds. Simon Eder of Sweden was 39.1 seconds back in second place, ahead of Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen, 53.4 seconds behind Bjoerndalen.

With three races remaining, Bjørndalen has 924 points, with Tomasz Sikora of Poland on 853 and Maxim Tchoudov of Russia on 737.
