Josef Omland’s love for life, people, his family, and the Gospel was boundless.

Josef Omland, beloved father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away on April 14, 2021, with his loving family at his bedside.

Josef was born in Kvinesdal, Norway, on July 9, 1937, and moved to the United States at age 18. 

He began work as a carpenter and eventually started a successful business, Omland Building. He was a founding member of the Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church and was involved with Camp Spofford and Youth For Christ ministries. His love for life, people, his family, and the gospel of Christ was contagious and boundless. 

He is welcomed into glory by his beloved wife, Inge Omland, and survived by his children BettyAnn Godden (Jeffrey), Eileen Sommi (Michael), and Kevin Omland, and his grandchildren, Kyle (Katelyn), Tyler (Katherine), Matthew (Alexandra), Cole, Katherine, and Grace. 

He will be missed until all who share his faith in Christ join him in heaven, where the party will continue! The family received visitors on April 24, 2021, at Dix Hills E.F. Church, with a funeral service following.
