On Sunday 26 April Norway’s busiest junction reopened after two years of refurbishment. For the first time, all of Oslo’s trams will stop at or by Jernbanetorget.

The new Jernbanetorget offers improved access and connection points to the metro, trains, trams and buses. The pedestrianised area has been fitted with granite flagstones.

The project area also includes adjacent areas, such as Strandgata, Fred Olsens gate, Nygata and Biskop Gunnerus’ gate.

Jernbanetorget is a rapid transit station on the Oslo Metro, in the Common Tunnel used by all lines under the city centre. It is located between Stortinget to the west and Grønland to the east. Until the construction of the station at Stortinget, Jernbanetorget was the end station for the eastern lines in downtown. Along with the Oslo Central Station, Oslo Bus Terminal and the tram and bus station above ground, Jernbanetorget is the largest transport hub in Norway.
