Hydro scores highest among aluminium companies in this year’s Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) ranking – for the fourth year in a row.

The DJSI is regarded by many as the world’s most important sustainability index and is an important guide for investors and other stakeholders for assessing companies’ non-financial performance. Hydro is the only aluminium company included in the DJSI World Index which includes the 10 percent best performers in each industry.

Hydro received top marks for reporting on risk and crisis management, its ethical principles, transparency, environmental policy and management, biodiversity and climate strategy.

Important benchmark tool

“The DJSI is an important benchmark tool for us, confirming that we are on the right track and giving us information on areas where we can improve further,” says Kirsten M. Hovi, who is responsible for Hydro’s non-financial reporting.

Hydro has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes every year since they were launched in 1999.
