Huawei selects Opera Mobile 10 as China enters 3G era

Opera Software today announced that Huawei, the China-based leading global telecommunications solutions provider, will preinstall Opera Mobile 10 on a range of mobile handsets. Huawei has long focused on creating value for its customers, and, with Opera Mobile the company can deploy a fast and feature-complete Web experience on multiple mobile platforms.

Opera released Opera Mobile 10 for operators and OEMs on December 10, 2009. This direct-to-distributor version of the browser is outfitted with Opera’s new, cross-platform UI framework. By selecting Opera Mobile 10, Huawei is now able to implement the same user experience across its range of handsets, no matter the platform, ensuring high quality Web surfing for all customers.

“Customer expectations for mobile-phone capabilities are constantly growing. We needed a browser that’s always ahead of those expectations, anticipating our customers’ mobile Web needs and making it a reality. Opera is that browser,” said Jiang Huabing, Head of Huawei handset R&D department, Huawei. “China represents unique growth opportunities in the mobile market, and we hope that with the addition of Opera Mobile to our handsets, more of China will soon be online.”

As a mainstream mobile-terminal provider, Huawei shipped 30 million mobile phones in 2009. The company is poised to achieve even more now that China has officially entered 3G communication era.

“By working with a market leader such as Huawei, we are able to develop more deeply into the Chinese market and bring the Web to more people,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software. “Opera Mobile 10 is a significant achievement for Opera, as it takes mobile browsing to the next level. Huawei has recognized the value Opera adds for its customers, and, with our help they will continue to exceed expectations.”
