House Hunting in … Norway

Situated on a hill in Holmenkollen, an affluent neighborhood in Oslo, this 1955 house has three stories with expansive views of Oslo Fjord.

The main entrance is at the back of the house. Furu wood floors (a type of pine native to Norway) runs throughout. The kitchen has new stainless-steel Whirlpool appliances and a Miele refrigerator; the countertops are oak, including the breakfast bar. The kitchen is adjacent to the living room, which contains a metal fireplace that provides substantial warmth.

“I heated almost the whole house with it this winter,” said the owner, Warren Hicks, who stressed that the house also has central heating, an unusual feature in Norway, where most homes are heated by radiators.
