At only 51 years old, Norwegian musician Hilde Heltberg passed away Sept. 4.

She passed away quietly Sunday after losing against cancer, wrote nrk.no.
She debuted in 1980. At the time she was heavily influenced by the record companies, who wanted to make her “a new Norwegian Blondie.” She eventually was produced by such celebrity producers as Åge Andersen and Jonas Fjeld.
“You could say that i was young and naive for a very long time, yes. Early on I was told to get rid of my Eastern dialect and stop saying certain words,” said Heltberg in an interview with the newspaper Aftenposten in 2004, in conjunction with the release of the album “Don’t Come Closer.”
The last album she released was in 2009, entitled “Elske Fritt” (“Love Free”).
In all, she released 12 albums in the course of her career. Three times in the 80s she participated in the Eurovison Song Contest and was a member of several country music, rock and pop bands.
In 2002 she revieved the Edvard Prize in the pop category for the sang “Med tiden” (“With time”), which she worked on with musician Kari Iveland.
In later years she played, among other things, with the trio Queen Bees and toured with Henning Kvitnes as well as Jonas Fjeld.
