High salmon prices for two or three years
Export prices for salmon have gone to ever-new heights. Chairman Lars Liabø analyst for Kontali, thinks that salmon prices will remain high for one to three years.
Last week came kg price of fresh salmon in 36.65 kroner, an increase of almost one kroner from the previous week. Export volume ended at 11,921 tonnes, an increase of 2.4 percent from the week before.
March figures for Norwegian seafood exports can beat all previous records.
There is high demand and limited supply of Atlantic salmon that provide the high price.Chile has still not come back in the market with large quantities of salmon for the problems they have had, and in Norway has not increased production in pace with demand. I think that it will continue to take from one to three years before Chile’s back.
