How would you like to have Hedda Gabler performed in your own living room? Out of Line Productions is looking for a New York space to host its upcoming production of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen.

This unique site-specific production would take place in a location evocative of a 19th century home. Ideally, the parlor floor in a brownstone or townhouse – high ceilings, a large living or dining room, an old fashioned style.

Out of Line will perform Hedda Gabler in this house or apartment. Attendance to the event will be free and by invitation only (a selective list of about 15 guests a night). The audience will sit, interspesed in the apartment, and immersed in the middle of the play’s action.

“Our dates and performance schedule are flexible. We hope to run the production in January or February 2010, for up to 12 performances. The play will run 1 hour 40 minutes, without an intermission. Our cast includes 7 actors. We will use your apartment as is. We will compensate the owner of the house, with a fee and a tax deductible not-for-profit donation receipt, in addition to a security deposit,” said Producer Frederique Nahmani.

“Our artistic vision for the play is innovative and seeks to break new grounds. Our director, John Gould Rubin, has been the Co-Artistic Director and Executive Director of acclaimed Off Broadway company, LAByrinth Theatre. Some recent directorial and production credits included Philip Roth in Khartoum; Penalties & Interest, STopless, The Trail of Her Inner Thigh and A Winter Party; Dreaming in Tongues and Memoire; Jesus Hopped the “A” Train, our Lady of 121st Street, Dirty Story etc” explained Ms Nahmani.
