Hattestad wins World Cup cross-country sprint race
Ola Vigen Hattestad won a men’s classic sprint for his sixth World Cup victory of the season in Trondheim on March 11.
Hattestad leads the World Sprint Cup overall standing with 760 points, ahead of Italy’s Renato Pasini with 353 points.
Hattestad edged countryman Petter Northug, who closed in on Switzerland’s Dario Cologna at the top of the overall standings. Norway grabbed all podium spots as John Kristian Dahl finished third.
Cologna finished fifth, behind Japan’s Yuichi Onda, and has a 54-point lead over Northug in the overall World Cup standings.
Petra Majdic of Slovenia won the women’s sprint ahead of Slovakia’s Alena Prochazkova of Slovakia and Justina Kowalczyk of Poland.
