Norwegian Mona Berntsen tours with Chris Brown
Mona Berntsen (21) has secured her dream job.; she is on the North American tour with superstar Chris Brown.
The first show premiered Monday, Sept. 12, and within six weeks, Berntsen will perform in 21 different locations in the United States and Canada.
“This is my biggest dream. It is almost too good to be true,” said a happy Mona Berntsen to VG.
In 2008 the 21-year-old won the Scandinavian finals of the “Dansefeber” contest (“Dance Fever”). Since Christmas time last year, the Norwegian girl has been based in Los Angeles in the United States to concentrate fully on dancing.
“I miss Oslo very much,” she says.
The success has come sooner than she had ever hoped it would. On Aug. 28, she was one of Chris Brown’s dancers at the MTV Video Music Awards.
“It was a very raw experience,” she told VG.
The day before, the offer had come to join the U.S. tour.
“It was a very stressful week. We had ten days to learn everything. It is a very big production, and there is much that must come together. Everything has gone very quickly,” she said.
Berntsen says that she became emotional when the curtain went up and suddenly she was in action in front of thousands of spectators Monday night.
“It has gone so fast. I hardly understood anything that happened. It is amazing that they have given me this chance,” said Berntsen.
Chris Brown is one of the artists Berntsen has dreamed about working with. She also says that the artist is very nice to the dancers.
“You hear many different stories about how artists behave, but even before he greeted me he knew my name. He is very approachable, and one of the most down to earth people I’ve met. As a person he is very honest and has a good heart,” says Berntsen about Brown, who doesn’t have an entirely positive reputation after he was convicted of beating his ex-girlfriend Rihanna (23) in 2009.
