Haugesund’s 2010 festival opens in a Limbo, sees The Writing on the Wall
Unspooling its 38th edition between Aug. 18-26, the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund will open its main programme Aug. 21 with Norwegian director Marie Sødahl’s feature debut, Limbo.
Scripted by Sødahl, and starring Line Verndal, Henrik Rafaelsen, Lena Endre and Bryan Brown, Limbo is a coming-of-age story set among a young Norwegian family living in Trinidad.
Produced by Gudny Hummelvoll and Petter J Borgli for SF Norge Produksjon, the film will be released domestically by SF Norge on 10 September.
For the festival closure on Wednesday, 25 August, festival director Gunnar Johan Løvvik and programme director Håkon Skogrand has chosen Stefan Faldbakken’s The Writing on the Wall (Skiften på veggen)
The first of six new films starring Trond Espen Seim as Varg Veum follows the Bergen PI looking into the murder of a judge who is found in women’s underwear at a fashionable hotel.
Penned by Thomas Moldestad, it was produced by Norwegian-Danish outfit CineMiso, and will open in Norway straight after the festival through SF Norge.
The film programme will be preceded by the New Nordic Films market (18-21 August), including the Nordic Co-Production Forum (20 August), and the Amanda Awards – the national film prizes (20 August).
