A remarkably high number, “said a senior adviser in the Health, Jostein Vist.

Figures from the Board of Health show that of health professionals that are still of working age, there are 829 who have completely or partially lost their authorization.

Of these 267 physicians, of which every fourth resident address abroad:

* 38 doctors have residence in Sweden

* 17 in Denmark

* 4 in Iceland

* 2 in Finland

* 1 in Finland / Spain

* 1 in France

* 1 Iraq

* 1 in Italy

* 1 in Lithuania

* 1 in Sweden / Eritrea

Travel

“These figures show that in the Nordic countries is a high degree of common labor market in which health professionals travel around,” said a senior adviser in the Health, Jostein Vist.

As long as doctors have residence abroad, it means that they only had a shorter stay in Norway.

Is it so that health-care professionals make mistakes, have a greater tendency to search around to get the job?

“We can not say for sure, but we have seen that some do,” said Vist.

Alcoholism, and sexual relations

He believes the relatively high proportion of foreign doctors in the list of doctors that has lost its license due to two factors.

“One is that there may be health professionals who have lost their authority in the countries they originally came from. As they have for a relatively short procedural process also lost it in Norway,” said Vist.

“So there is obviously something the personnel from the Nordic countries who come here, making mistakes in professional practice and get their reactions associated with it.
