ONLINE: Vesterheim April Bokprat (Book Club)

April 25 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

book cover for The Almost Nearly Perfect PeopleDr. Maren Johnson, Luther College’s Associate Professor of Nordic Studies and Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies Director, facilitates a monthly bokprat (book club), discussing Scandinavian authors and Scandinavian life.

Join this month for a conversation about The Almost Nearly Perfect People by author Michael Booth. An American living in Denmark, Booth explores the perception in Western media of the Nordic region as a utopic place. Through his engaging anecdotes of personal experiences and research on the social welfare state, he presents some of the realities—as he sees them—of the Nordic region today.

Don’t hesitate to contact Andrew Ellingsen, Folk Art Coordinator, with any questions you may have (aellingsen@vesterheim.org).

Supplies: A computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.

Special Instructions: Registrants should secure their own copy of the book and have read it prior to the discussion. When registering for the class, please make sure to use the email address you’d like the Zoom meeting invitations sent to. You will receive a link to the Zoom sessions by email sometime during the week prior to the discussion.

Enrollment Deadline: April 23, 2021. Enroll here.
