ONLINE: Nordic Women in Film—Norway
February 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Norway House invites you to its Nordic Women in Film series this winter. This week, the film series will center on the 2019 Norwegian film Hope, directed by Maria Sødahl.
Movies about personal stories tend to receive less attention and smaller budgets than films about broader topics. Why is that and what makes the personal political? What happens with love when a woman in the middle of her life gets three months left to live?
Register here for the film screening. The film will be available to view online from February 16–18 and is only available in the US and Canada. Registration closes on February 15.
Alongside the film, we will also meet in an online Q&A and special conversation, available globally, on “Personal Stories, Big Budgets” with renowned Nordic and American filmmakers. Sign up here:
Q&A on Hope with director Maria Sødahl, 3–3:30pm (EST)
Online Special Conversation on “Personal Stories, Big Budgets”
Speakers: Maria Sødahl (NOR), Ninja Thyberg (SWE), Malou Reymann (DK). Moderated by Kirsten Schaffer, Executive Director of Women in Film LA, 3:30–4:30pm (EST)
About the series: During five weeks between February 2 and March 3, you can watch 5 films from across the Nordic countries, meet their crew and participate in 5 special conversations with Nordic and U.S. filmmakers. All films and events are free of charge.
