ONLINE: NACC’s Energy Exchange—Insight from the Industry : OFFSHORE WIND

May 19 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Electricity is critical to society—it needs to be affordable and reliable. Increased environmental awareness and policy developments towards a greener future is supporting the development of wind energy. Globally, energy produced from wind has grown with more than 400% over the past 20 years.

The waters off the coasts of the United States have significant potential for electricity generation from wind energy. The U.S. currently has one operating offshore wind energy project: the Block Island wind farm off the Coast of Rhode Island with 30 megawatts (MW) of electricity generation capacity. Several other wind projects off the U.S. East Coast are in the planning stages. Twelve European countries had operating offshore wind energy projects as of the end of 2020.

In this webinar, moderator Kristine Klavers talks with Siri Espedal Kindem, President, Equinor Wind USA and Jonah Margulis, Senior Vice President, Aker Offshore Wind US. We will learn from the experience gained from these two leading companies that already have significant experience in developing off-shore wind energy projects. They will share their experiences, the hurdles and opportunities as they see for offshore wind projects here in the US. They will touch on the significance of state policies for offshore wind energy as well as federal policies, economics and investment tax credits, technology, energy storage, environment, logistics, cybersecurity, staffing and more.
