ONLINE: Film Showing: Votes for Women! Rally 1920
Votes for Women! Rally 1920 will make you feel the passion of early feminists. Brought to you in video form by Norway House, this program will be available to view from Friday, March 5 through Monday, March 8 in honor of International Women’s Day.
Leaders Emily Bright and Clara Ueland (Norwegian-Minnesotan) move the crowd with descriptions of the long struggle. Nanny Mattson Jaeger (Swedish-Minnesotan) describes how she and many Scandinavian immigrants renewed the movement. Nellie Griswold Francis (African-Minnesotan) tells of her leadership with the Rondo community in St. Paul.
The efforts of these and other Minnesota suffragists are commemorated in the Minnesota Woman Suffrage Memorial on the grounds of the State Capitol in St. Paul.
