ENROLLMENT DEADLINE: May Family Norwegian Language Adventure: Norges Historie (History of Norway)
Join Vesterheim this May for some family fun and learn some Norwegian language and history along the way! Through hands-on activities, fun crafts, light-hearted games, and short videos, you and your family will learn and practice your new Norwegian skills. A kit will be delivered right to your home containing supplies for these language activities, a helpful reference sheet for all the new words and expressions you will be learning, a fun Syttende Mai themed craft, and a yummy treat.
The adventure starts on May 1 and the vocabulary and phrases will focus on Norges historie, Norway’s history, during this special month of Norway’s Consitution Day, Syttende Mai (on May 17)!
The instructional videos teaching you these key terms will be short to ensure you will have plenty of time to be active and cozy up together as a family. These videos and activities are geared towards all ages, but most appropriate for families with school-age children. You and your family will be spending time together, enjoying the learning adventure, sharing in activities! Share your family’s adventure and see what other families are doing through the Goosechase app!
Don’t hesitate to contact Andrew Ellingsen, Folk Art Coordinator, with any questions you may have (email@example.com).
Supplies: The $20-per-family price covers the cost of a special adventure kit, which includes language activities, reference sheets, fun hands-on craft activity, snack, and directions for downloading and using the Goosechase app (a free app that is downloadable on any iOS or Android device).
Special Instructions: Your “family” could be any combination of an adult or adults and child or children, all who are ready to have fun and learn some norsk are welcome! When registering for the class, please make sure to use the address you’d like the kit shipped to. Kits are mailed out as registration and payment are completed. Scavenger hunt results will be shared on social media the week of June 7. Only one adult should register for the whole family.
Note: This program has been designed for families to experience on their own schedules. There is no live Zoom event and no scheduled class time – your family can participate anytime during the month when it works for your schedule!
