ONLINE—Baldishol: A Medieval Norwegian Tapestry Inspires Contemporary Textiles
June 28 - September 25Free
The medieval Baldishol tapestry, from 1180, is a national treasure familiar to most Norwegians—the oldest known Norwegian tapestry, and one of the oldest in Europe.
This exhibit features 26 works by local, national, and international fiber artists who draw inspiration from the Baldishol. They include not only tapestries but clothing, rugs, quilts, fiber sculpture, and more. View a replica of the historic weaving on loan from Vesterheim Museum in Decorah, Iowa, and admire contemporary textile works inspired by the tapestry.
