Eni signs Goliat FPSO contract

Eni Norge AS has signed a contract with Sevan Marine ASA to provide post-front-end engineering and design for the Goliat circular floating production, storage, and offloading vessel in the Barents Sea.

“The value of the contract is approximately 150 million kroner from February to September 2009,” said Sevan Marine.

In February, Eni reported that it preferred Sevan Marine’s concept for the deepwater oil and gas field after whittling down its short list to this company and Aker Kvaerner (OGJ Online, Feb. 9, 2009). This will be the first oil development in the area. Production is scheduled to begin in 2013.

The Norwegian parliament will review the final development plan this spring, and Eni will issue a new tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the Goliat FPSO.

The Sevan 1000 FPSO will have an oil production capacity of 100,000 b/d, gas production capacity of 3.9 MM cu m/day, and oil storage capacity of 1 million bbl. Sevan Marine will grant Eni a license to use the FPSO in the field, which is to start production in 2013 and produce for 15-20 years.

Subsea wells will be linked to the FPSO, with flowlines and risers scheduled to be installed in June-July 2010 and May-August 2011.

The licensees in production license 229/229B are Eni Norge with a 65% interest and StatoilHydro Petroleum AS with 35%.
