Edvald Boasson Hagen now Third on UCI World Ranking

Norway’s Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Columbia-HTC) has confirmed his huge talent by winning the Eneco Tour UCI ProTour race and rising to third overall in the latest UCI World Ranking.

The 22-year-old has improved immensely during the 2009 season. He won the Ghent-Wevelgem classic in April, a stage at the Giro d’Italia and two stages at the Tour of Poland.

His fellow countryman Thor Hushovd is currently number 12 on the list.

If Hagen continues to perform well for the rest of the season, he could overtake second placed Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank), writes Comecyclingwithme.com.

Despite racing little since winning the Tour de France, Alberto Contador’s lead in the UCI World Ranking remains solid.

Thanks to the success of Boasson Hagen and Hushovd this season, Norway is eighth in the nations standings, confirming the Scandinavian country as one of the best developing nations in cycling, along with Great Britain and the U.S.
