On Sunday August 9, 22-year-old Edvald Boasson Hagen (Columbia-HTC), from Lillehammer, Norway placed third in the Tour of Poland. The toughest stage of the tour saw Hagen sprint to his second victory on August 8.

The race overall was won by Allesandro Ballan, from Italy, while Spain’s Daniel Moreno placed in second. Hagen’s placing won Norway 10th place in the world ranking. The World Championships will take place in Switzerland on September 23.

So far this year Hagen has won the cobbled classic Gent-Wevelgem in a two man sprint against Liquigas rider Aleksandr Kuschynski. He also rode in the 2009 Giro d’Italia, his first ever Grand Tour, where Team Columbia won the Team Time trial. Hagen won the seventh stage in a sprint and finished second in the sixth and eighth stages.

In 2008, Team Columbia-HTC won more races than any other team in professional cycling.
