This is the main outcome of Norway’s Minister of Culture Trond Giske having met with his Egyptian colleague, Mr Farouk Hosni, and representatives of Norwegian and Egyptian cultural institutions for the Second Meeting on Cultural Cooperation between Egypt and Norway at Røros, Norway, 4-6 March 2009.

The gathering was a follow-up of the recommendations of a first meeting in Luxor, Egypt in October 2007 concerning dialogue and cross-cultural understanding, where the idea of Norwegian- Egyptian cultural cooperation within specific fields was launched.

Through presentations, and an exchange of views and best practices, in addition to a program giving the participants a taste of Norwegian art and cultural life, solid ground was laid for closer contact and long-term dialogue between Norway and Egypt – based on specific suggestions on cultural cooperation within the fields of responsibility of the participating institutions.

The further development of cultural cooperation between Egypt and Norway will be implemented through the Egyptian and Norwegian institutions and organizations concerned.
