Facing future health care needs in Oslo

The 6th international workshop on Wearable Micro and Nanosystems for Personalised Health will be held in Oslo, 24-26 June 2009.

This year’s workshop will focus how to face the health care needs in the near future. A primary focus will be user centred development and successful implementations. The workshop will demonstrate successful technology implementation at hospitals and in the health care sector, and present and discuss new possibilities and solutions of tomorrow.

The pHealth workshop will show off the latest advances on the technology front for home-based healthcare; medical sensors and sensor systems, personal health systems and smart textiles.

Micro- and nanotechnology could help to shorten hospital stays and lighten the load on the primary healthcare system via measurements that can be made in the home. New information and sensor technologies can move parts of the treatment chain from hospitals to patients’ own doctors, along the lines set out by the new Integrated Treatment Reform.

Organisers of the event are SINTEFThe Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine and The Interventional Centre at Rikshospitalet.
