Close encounters with sharks in Bergen
The so-called haitunnelen or shark tunnel at the Bergen Aquarium lets you get close to the shark.
Monday the Aquarium’s new attraction opened – a shark exhibit.
Construction of the special aquarium for the dreaded fish allows the curious to look at the animals up close.
This is the first shark tunnel in Norway. We have made coral reefs, including clown fish – and the shark, ” said aquarium director Kees Ekeli to TV 2 news.
The project with shark tunnel is done in collaboration with the World Wildlife Foundation in Norway.
Many sharks are endangered.
Cooperation with the WWF is important to us, also to inform about endangered species. The ones we have here are definitely not threatened. But the big sea sharks are the worse, “said director of the Bergen Aquarium, Kees Ekeli to NRK Hordaland.
Monday morning six sharks came to the aquarium in Bergen. There is an aquarium with a shark tunnel ready for the new residents. They will live together with around 340 other coral fishes. The new large tropical saltwater aquarium in Bergen is equipped with a tunnel so you can walk under the sharks.
