Over the next five years the Oslo hotel will get 340 new rooms, more restaurants and larger conference facilities, according to a press release from Choice Hotels. The hotel currently has 508 rooms, making it the second largest in Oslo.

By 2014 the new Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania will have 850 rooms, a conference hall with room for 1200 persons, as well as several new meeting spots, both for hotel guests and the people of Oslo.

“We are going to build a hotel that Oslo can be proud of,” Choice Hotels chairman and owner Petter A. Stordalen said in the press release.

Renovations will start in the oldest part of the hotel in October 2009, and 191 renovated rooms will be ready for the 2011 FIS Nordic Ski World Championships in Oslo. After the championships the rest of the hotel will be renovated and hundreds of new rooms will be built.

Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania is located in the Oslo city centre, only 100 metres from Oslo Central Station. More information about the hotel can be found on the hotel website: Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania.

The largest hotel in Oslo is currently Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel. This hotel is also looking to expand, according to Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.
