Buildings swept away in mudslide
On Friday March 13 a mudslide hit several houses and vacation homes in Namsos, Nord-Trøndelag county. Some of the buildings were swept into a fjord below. Nobody has been reported missing, but police and fire brigades with divers are searching the area, assisted by helicopters and boats.
Seven people were evacuated from the site by helicopters, and none of them were seriously injured, reports Norway Post. The 300m wide mudslide happened near a road construction site, and NRK reports it could be related to blasting or excavation.
Mudslides are frequent in parts of Norway as the ground thaws after the winter.
