Boxing: Brækhus defends her WBA/WBC titles
Cecilia Brækhus, from Bergen, defended her World Championship titles Saturday Sept. 12 by beating Italian Lusia Morelli on points 98-92, 99-92 and 97-93.
“There is no doubt that this was the toughest fight so far in my career,” said Brækhus, who still is the World Champion in Welterweight in the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council.
The Italian was unbeaten in 13 fights and boasts a KO quota of almost 50 percent. “She will be tough to beat, but as the world champion, I have to defend my titles against the best opponents out there,” said the First Lady from Norway before the fight.
