Borgersen satisfied with his debut

Reidar Borgersen had his world cup debut on Wednesday in the Road World Championships in Copenhagen.
In the elite men’s time trial, he started modestly, and didn’t end with a top speed either. With the time 59.38, he ended up in 43rd place, 5.54 minutes behind the winner.
He was still happy with the race. “It was fun,” he told NRK after the finish. “I was quite nervous before the start, but when I first started, it went smoothly,” he said.
The former speed-skater opened fairly well, and he was 25 seconds behind the best at the first interval.
He lost another 14 seconds at the next interval, and at the halfway point, his distance was increased to 1.08 minutes. He lost more time on the last lap.
“I tried to give a little extra at the end, but I did not have as much to offer as I had hoped,” he said.
On Sunday, Norwegian elite racers Edvald Boassen Hagen and Thor Hushovd will compete in the elite men’s road race.
