Norwegian cyclist Edvald Boasson Hagen has won the Eneco Tour, the eight-day cycling race held each year in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In the final run Boasson Hagen (22), of the Columbia team, finished 45 seconds ahead of Frenchman Sylvain Chavanel, who clocked the fourth fastest time in the seven-stage ProTour race on Aug. 25.

Dutch riders Sebastian Langeveld and Maarten Tjallingii finished second and third.

“It’s a fantastic achievement, my first in an important stage race. I’m very, very happy,” said Boasson Hagen.

It was the eighth success this season for the Norwegian, including a stage of the Tour of Italy.
