Kavli has introduced a new blue cheese product in a limited edition, but it already promised to start a new Christmas trend when combined with gingerbread.

Christmas is approaching quickly, and the shops are overflowing with gingerbread, Christmas lights, and other Christmas decorations all over the country. Every year there are also exciting Christmas products. Kavli has now revealed a new Christmas product this season that is starting a new trend for Norwegians—if they are lucky enough to find it in a shop near them.

Limited edition

“We think that seasonally relevant launches are exciting, and if this is well received by consumers, we may see the start of a fixed tradition for Christmas. Furthermore, it may be relevant to consider limited editions also for other seasons, says Frode Flem Langeland, brand manager at Kavli .

The company has produced about 70,000 tubes of Kavli JuleOst, and it is available in about 600 different stores around Norway. If you like blue cheese or if you are interested in testing it in a combo with gingerbread snaps, you just have to hurry to get some of this limited edition blue cheese.

Blue cheese on gingerbread as a trend

While the combination is still foreign to many Norwegians, other countries have combined these flavors for a while.

“We see it more and more of it in Norway, and after we stopped producing blue cheese many years ago, many requested a new launch of it. We can finally excite new customers and re-excite existing ones,” says Gudfinna Traustadottir, marketing director for Kavli, with a smile.

Flavor explosion!

The feedback from those who have already tasted the product is very positive.

“Amazing! This one is going to be stocked up at our house! The rich cheese flavor combined with the taste of gingerbread results in a versatile and delicious product!” says one taster.

Versatile product

And even if the product is mostly pictured alongside gingerbread, it is a versatile product that goes with most things. Kavli JuleOst can be used on toast, crisp bread, and on various foods throughout the day.
