On December 18, the Scandinavian East Coast Museum got the best kind of news. They were nominated as one of the best museums in the Brooklyn Spectator/Home Reporter‘s Best of the Boro competition.

There are six other museums nominated. They are the Coney Island Museum, Jewish Children’s Museum, Morbid Anatomy Museum, New York Transit Museum, The City Reliquary, and The Toy Museum of New York.

Besides the museum category the other Best of the Boro categories include: Best Adult Dance School, Best Antique Store, Best Bicycle Shop, Best Book Store, Best Bowling Alley, Best Camp, Best Children’s Party Place, Best Concert Venue/Local Live Theater, Best Fine Jewelry, Best Hotel, Best Karate School/Martial Arts, Best Movie Theater, Best Party Events Rental, Best Pool Hall, Best Sporting Goods, and Best Tutor.

SECM President Victoria Hofmo enthused, “We are delighted to have been nominated as one of the Best of the Boro’s museums in Brooklyn in the Spectator/Home Reporter‘s contest. We have stiff competition, but it is wonderful to see that a small grassroots organization that is totally run by volunteers has been considered. The nomination truly validates all of the hard work that our volunteers have been doing for decades.”
