Beach Volleball: All Norwegian teams are out
Norwegian veterans Vegard Hoidalen and Jørre Kjemperud put up a good fight in Thursday’s match against the Austrian duo Gosch/Horst in the 2009 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Stavanger, but lost 1-2.
It was one of the longest matches in this championship, a dramatic nerve-wretching match between the two teams, which could have gone both ways. However, in the end the Norwegians didn’t manage to make their way back into the match, and the Austrians could celebrate.
“We were a bit unlucky, and had a couple of bad periods, taking bad decisions,” said Jørre Kjemperud, who was hampered by a twisted knee.
“He got all the pressure, and not being 100 percent (referring to his knee-injury) I thing Jorre did a great job,” Hoidalen said. However, the Norwegian veteran is disappointed: “Ending 17th is not correct I feel. We should have gone on,” Hoidalen says.
And with that, there are no Norwegian teams left in the Championship.
