Apoptygma Berzerk to play in D.C.
On September 2, the Norwegian electro-pop ensemble Apoptygma Berzerk visits 9:30 Club in D.C.
Originally from Fredrikstad, Norway, Apoptygma Berzerk have achieved success with a unique brand of upbeat, danceable synthpop, and haunting ballads backed with electronic rhythms, winning awards and top-10 spots in Germany and Scandinavia.
The band was formed by Stephan Groth and Jon Erik Martinsen in 1989, and has continued to evolve their sound ever since their debut twenty years ago. Originally much more of an industrial/electropop outfit, recent efforts lean more toward synth rock and even features members of Good Charlotte and The Dresden Dolls.
Having spent the year touring and promoting recent record ‘Rocket Science’, released in January 2009, expect to witness a tight and fluent performance in D.C. in September. Together with electro-minded band The Surrender, Apoptygma Berzerk’s show 30 Club will demonstrate that your dance and rock can indeed be rolled neatly into one.
