The American Coordinating Council of Norway (ACCN) is pleased to invite all the faithful Norwegian-American friends to our 2010 American Independence Day Celebration in Frognerparken, Oslo, Norway.

This year marks our 25th anniversary of hosting the 4th of July festivities and we’re planning our biggest program to date, covering the entire 4th of July weekend.

The ACCN is a non-profit council of American organizations founded in 1985. The ACCN facilitates networking and collaboration amongst its member organizations to promote their shared goals of strengthening American-Norwegian ties. To this end we get together to put on one of the best, and biggest, 4th of July events outside of the United States.

This year our celebration kicks-off on Friday, July 2nd with an exclusive receptionfrom the terrace of the Grand Hotel in Oslo for a “jazzy” music filed evening of great food and networking from the most breathtaking view of Oslo. The ambiance will be grooving to the sound of The King Clarinet, Felix Peikli, a Jazz prodigy hailing from Oslo, Norway. Making her debut along with Peikli is Kenya Emil, a marvelously talented singer you are sure to hear more from in the future.

The reception will be followed on Sunday, July 3rd, by an Arts Brunchwith (Shhhh) Silent auction from the Rica Victoria Hotel. The afternoon gathering will be treated to a buffet and an inspiring array of artwork, with the talented Jason Nemor setting the mood with his own brand of R&B.

Capping off the weekend on Sunday, July 4th, is the ACCN’s signature festival in Frognerparken, Oslo. Ranghild Groven, respected Norwegian opera singer, will start the festivities by singing the national anthem. This year’s special treat is the inaugural ACCN”idol”contest with a host of very talented performers hoping to win your vote. The day’s featured performers are Larkin Poe, a sister duo touring Europe with appearance from the Rockback Dancersand the ViQueens Cheerleading group. The Oslo Barnemuseum will exhibit their “learning through play” activities for children of all ages.

Raffle Prizes

The ACCN receives no funding for this event and relies on the generous support of our sponsors, advertiser and the hard work of an army of volunteers. This year’s raffle prizes are amazing, ranging from airline tickets to the US, hotel weekend get-away and tons of fantastic prizes, all for the NOK10 raffle ticket price. The ACCN has embraced today’s mobile technology to make it possible to RSVP for events on your mobile, vote for the “idol” contestants and download content by using SMS short-codes and 2D bar-codes (Datamatrix) from your “smart devices.” We’ve also “gone green” this year with our e-guide which you can view on-line at our website
