Aker Solutions has been awarded a Gold medal in the prestigious Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2009 presented by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). The Gold medal will be presented to Aker Solutions’ E&C business during a ceremony at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel (UK), at the National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday 13 May. The ceremony will take place alongside Safety & Health Expo 2009, Europe’s leading annual health and safety exhibition.
David Rawlings, RoSPA awards manager, said: “Aker Solutions has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business, and clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to improving performance in this crucial area.”
Dave Ley, president and managing director of Aker Solutions’ E&C business, said, “We all take personal responsibility for HSE because we care about people, the environment and our company. Achieving RoSPA Gold for the fifth consecutive year demonstrates our commitment to continuously strive for zero incidents. It’s important our HSE focus reaches every corner of our organisation and the training of our people in HSE awareness and best practices is fundamental to this.”
The RoSPA Awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place.
RoSPA is a registered charity in the UK established over 90 years ago and aims to campaign for change, influence opinion, contribute to debate, educate and inform – for the good of all.
