An adventurer from the Scotland has raised enough money to build a school in Nepal by skiing and kayaking more than 6,000km around Norway.

James Baxter (49)  from Edinburgh, has completed the eight-month trip which he began in January.

He skied from the south to north of the country, then cycled 400km before kayaking back along the coast.

Mr Baxter encountered a pod of Minke whales and 5m waves during his sometimes “dangerous” expedition.

Speaking from Norway, the father-of one told the BBC Scotland news website he was very proud to have raised £10,000 through his trip.

He decided on the cause after travelling in Nepal, where one valley had no schools despite there being three villages which each contained about 200 children.
