Aasrud appointed Minister of Reform and Church Affairs

Rigmor Aasrud was appointed minister in charge of the Ministry of Government Administration and Reform, and of church affairs in the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs and the Department of Sami and minority policy in the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion.

Until December 20, 2009 she also has the political responsibility for the Ministry of Labor and Social Inclusion, with the exception of the department of immigration and the department of integration and cultural diversity.

Aasrud has a long political career in the Labor Party. In 2009 she was elected Member of Parliament for the county of Oppland. The last four years she has served as state secretary in the Ministry of Health and Care Services. She worked with the ministry’s entire range of issues, including municipal health services, emergency preparedness, hospital matters, primary health services and the interaction reform. In the period 1992 till 1996 she was secretary for women’s issues in the Labour Party. Aasrud also has a long experience in local politics. In 1983 she was elected member of the Gran municipal council. For ten years, from 1995 till 2005, she was mayor. In addition, she was leader of the municipality’s administrative council in the period 1987-1991. Aasrud has a business graduate degree from Norwegian School of Management BI. She also has a degree in information counseling at the College of Lillehammer.
