Scandanavian artists seek to elevate the status of craft as an art form.

Forget House of Copenhagen, Ikea and everything else that pops to mind when you think Scandinavian design and crafts. “Irreverent: Contemporary Nordic Craft Art,” opening this month at Yerba Center for the Arts, presents a new paradigm for a new century. Young artists in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland are creating work that counters expectations.
