Oslo stock exchange hits high for year

On Monday Aug. 24 Oslo’s stock exchange (Oslo Børs) hit its highest point so far this year, reports AFP.

The OSEBX index rose to 313.04 points in morning trade before slipping back a touch to show a gain of 1.52 percent to 312.03 points in mid-afternoon deals.

Oslo Børs is dominated by oil-related companies, whose share prices were up sharply on Monday as a barrel of crude oil was trading above 74 dollars in London.

StatoilHydro, the biggest company on the Oslo exchange, was up by 1.56 percent, drilling group Seadrill gained 3.0 percent and oil services firm Aker Solutions was up 5.52 percent.
