OSLO, Feb 3 (Reuters) – Norway’s Finance Minister Kristin Halvorsen said on Tuesday she was open to discussions about currency cooperation with crisis-stricken Nordic neighbour Iceland during her visit to Reykjavik later this week.

“I look forward to discussing various aspects of the economic situation in Iceland with Finance Minister Steingrimur Sigfusson, also currency cooperation if that becomes a subject,” Halvorsen said in an email reply to a Reuters question.

Sigfusson told Reuters on Sunday that a “currency union” with Norway was one potential currency option for Iceland, alongside keeping the Icelandic crown and unilateral adoption of the euro or the U.S. dollar.
