On Sept. 4, two new images were released of King Harald V, Crown Prince Haakon Magnus and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. These are the first official images of the three given out to the media since 2005.

The pictures were taken at Bygdø Royal Farm on August 25, 2009. The farm, which has been owned or used by Norwegian monarchs almost continuously since 1305, is situated on the Bygdøy peninsula in Oslo.

Line of succession to the Norwegian throne

In 1990 the Norwegian constitution was altered, granting equal primogeniture to the Norwegian throne, meaning that the eldest child, regardless of gender, takes precedence in the line of succession. Since this was not done retroactively, the first member of the royal family it applies to is Princess Ingrid Alexandra. This means that she takes precedence over her younger brother, but her father Haakon continues to take precedence over his older sister, Princess Märtha Louise.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra was born on January 21, 2004.
