Nammo Raufoss has signed a contract with the European space company EADS Astrium for 700 rocket motors.

The total scope of supply represents the need for Separation Boosters (FE), Acceleration Boosters (FA) and Safe & Arm devices (BSA) for 35 launches of the European Spacecraft ARIANE 5 built by Astrium.

This important contract for Nammo Raufoss represents a significant production volume of high-tech space products for the next 5 years.

The value of the ARIANE 5 contract for Nammo Raufoss is about 150 Million NOK, which is the largest contract ever awarded to a Norwegian company within the Space industry.

Nammo Raufoss has by this contract proven their competitiveness in a demanding space market.

“The fact that Space Technology has for many years been a National focus area in Norway, including an active membership in the European Space Agency (ESA), is of utmost importance for the success of Norwegian space industry, says Morten Brandtzæg, Executive Vice President for Nammo’s Missile Products Division. ”

“The contract is an important milestone in our continuous effort to satisfy demanding customers and demonstrates our capability to compete in the space market,” Brandtzæg says.
